It's been a little while since I've posted, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I quit! I've been pretty ADHD with my art lately, going all over the place. Here's the latest commission I've done.
I was really excited when the client gave me this idea and was almost disappointed that I didn't think of something like this myself! It's definitely a challenge but a great exercise to work on someone else's vision, because it normally isn't something you would come up with on your own. I'm glad I got the opportunity to do something like this!
Also, for some reason, I've been busying myself with mechanical type drawings. It may be a new niche of mine. This is a little something I was working on the past day or so.
Apologies for the phone picture. This is compared to the actual image of my mother's 1972 Stingray. WOW what a fantastic car! The curves on it are unlike anything you really see now and it just made me want to draw it.

Changes!
So lately I haven't posted much but I have been busy! Everything is set up and ready to go in my Willingboro, NJ studio. I'm very excited to have a space just dedicated to the work that I do. And I'm ready to make a business from it!
Yay! :)
Also, I was happy to do a pet portrait for my lovely friend Melissa and her new husband. This is the first complete piece done in the studio... here are some steps to my color pencil work.

Attention Deficit...
As you may be able to tell by simply looking around my blog, it's hard for me to focus on one thing! Artistically I'm all over the place! But I figure I'll just let it flow. Since the last time I've posted, I actually took the step to rent out my own studio! Now I have the space and inspiration to crank out some more pieces! I'm working on a lot of different things at the same time so I'll try and keep this updated!
In the meantime while warming up in the studio, here's a drawing I did for my brother Bryan Wilson that he will get tattooed on him. I'm excited to be a part of his body art!

Until next time!

Phildadelphia Wizard World
Well, Wizard World is currently winding down and I had a blast as an artist at the Rough Sketch Studio table! I met some fantastic artists, sold prints, and fulfilled my dreams in meeting Sean Patrick Flanery & Norman Reedus of the Boondock Saints! It was definitely the best Philadelphia Comic Con I've been to in terms of crowd, friendly support & memories :) Thanks to everyone who came by and showed love!

Phillustration 2011
This past weekend my good friend Stephen Sistilli of Rough Sketch Studio and I ventured around Philly and ended up at the Sketch Club to see a show that he had entered in. We were pleased to see that he had received 1st place for a sequential piece he had done for Koni vs. Avengelyne! We also hung out with one of my favorite college instructors Rich Harrington and dabbled in drawing. It was definitely an awesome experience!
Speaking of the Sketch Club, their annual Phillustration show is coming back around and Steve & I just entered some pieces in hopes of making the cut since it seems to get more and more competitive as the years pass. It is amazing and wonderful to see all the fantastic artists locally here in the Philadelphia area! The show is from June 25th - July 17th. For more details, check out the show's blog !
Also, from June 17th - 19th is Philadelphia's Wizard World at the convention center! Please come by and check out me and my favorite guys at Rough Sketch Studio & our new "Art of Rough Sketch" book!

For Fun..
Thought I'd post this Xenomorph that I had lots of fun with! (Lots of fun doing the piece I mean; you wouldn't usually catch me out having fun with a Xenomorph) Enjoy!

Cranked this one out...
so fast that I didn't even get a chance to mention it to anyone! It's my version of Rob Liefeld's Avengelyne since I'm all excited that a friend of mine is participating in Image Comic's new story. This piece will only appear in an "Art of" Rough Sketch Studios book for sale at the Philadelphia Comic Con this year. Hope to see you there!

Kid's Promo Piece
This is just a fun piece I thought I would try out to promote my children's art. Got it from a common Aesop's Fable. I hope to get this one cranked out ASAP!

From Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde...
I've been such a spaz with my art lately and I hardly get to scan anything! I've been finishing up the Dust Bunnies book this weekend and since I've been doing all this cute stuff I decided to throw a curve. I actually dedicated a whole day to my beloved world of Halo (watching Legends, playing Reach, etc.) so here's a study of my favorite Halo character: the Elite! This was so much fun so I hope to get more into it when I get the chance. I want to put the helmet on and eventually get it on toned paper for some color pencil. This will probably be an on and off again project.

A Dusty Adventure!
Just thought I'd check in with some dusty stuff I've been doing. The book is almost done so be sure to be on the look out :) Here are 2 spreads, one with just the pencil and the other with the color laid on digitally. I can only take responsibility for the pencil work; Dexter (illustrator of A Cat Named Haiku) is doing the colors and is giving this story a really nice feel. Enjoy!
Also a little glimpse of.... DUSTY BRIE! Had a lot of fun with this.

Progress
Thought I'd share the progress of that piece. My brother was nice enough to pose for this! Starting from the bottom, in the first sketch he looks like a young boy since I had to take the beard off of him. But in wanting to make the character more menacing I'm putting a little 5 o'clock shadow back on and putting more expression in his face for the final piece.

CAPTAIN ACTION!
In the middle of workin on my co-op book and some promotionals for shows I got the opportunity to contribute to a comic book tributed to the 1960's hero Captain Action! Yup, this guy.
This is pretty unlike the things I usually do so I am psyched to do a pinup on something I never did before: a superhero! I got my brother to help me with reference so I'm ready to roll with a 2011 Captain Action!
