Baltimore Comic Con 2013

Just when I thought that this year's Philly Wizard World was the best yet, the convention at Baltimore this past weekend was even more incredible! I partnered up with my buddy/talented artist Andrew Leta (www.andrewleta.com) and displayed our work at the convention. We had a blast and were sooo busy! Canine character prints and watercolor pencil/pen sketches of pets were a hit.

I am so pleased with the positive response I had gotten this summer when I had finally just went with my passion & love for canines! It's really inspiring and touching to hear about people and their beloved pets. Here are some pics from the show!

Got to do watercolor/pen sketches of some great canines!

Playing pups.

Even got to draw a ferret!

Was excited to do a commission of con goers' pets as Krypto & the Flash!
Even did a Krypto sketch in a book solely dedicated to the Super Dog :)

It really means a lot how great this convention went, and I plan on doing many more! In the meantime I am always taking commissions via email & will mail out the pieces! briellejwilson@gmail.com

Reaching outside of color pencil...

...slowly. Been having a lot of fun in the studio today playing around with some watercolor(pencil) fan art. I forgot how much I enjoy linework via regular pen. Nothing fancy.

Here's my second attempt at portraying Chris Martin from Coldplay. This time I'm feeling better about it!

Events

Since Comic Con I had some fun at the Gloucester City Arts Festival hanging out and drawing pups. A few of my Character Canine prints sold too! Was glad to be there! I'll have to keep ya posted on near-future events since this is convention/festival season! Hoping to get into as many as possible! Here's me from over the weekend.
Did a quick watercolor pencil/ink portrait of my lovely niece, Lola during my off time!

Wizard World Philly 2013

I have to say this was my most successful Comic Con yet! I've been going there for about four years and this is the first time I actually put superheroes aside and did what I really love... drawing canines! It was more successful than I could imagine! I sold prints of the Famous Canine Character series where I would take a known doggie character and make them into what I think they would look like if they were an actual dog. I also did a Convention Special where I did watercolor pencil/ink sketches of people's pets. Here are some pics of how my weekend went.

Even got a horse in the mix!

Was definitely fun and successful! I can also do a more illustrative piece with your dog as a character, painted digitally. E-mail me if interested! & don't forget to follow my artistic antics on instagram @briezy_art.

Philly Wizard World is coming

..and I'm happy to say I will have some new stuff to offer this year. Any other year that I went as a vendor I drew the usual that you would see at a comic convention: superheros, villains & video game characters. While I love those things too, it just felt like it wasn't me. This year I'll be putting my spine on famous canine characters that we know and love! I always appreciate suggestions! I'll also be doing doggy sketches :)

This is an example of what I've been working on:

2013 Endeavers

Hello all! It's been a little while since I'd posted last... this surely does not mean I hadn't been busy! The second generation of our very own Kippy Berryfoote will soon be available in full color! I redid the whole book and am much happier with it. Author Robert Lunsk and I are excited to get it out there. Here's a page from the book:

Since I primarily had been working alone since college, I found it hard to keep my enthusiasm up on a more consistent basis compared to how easy it was when you are surrounded by creative people. I recently decided to join the Burlington County Art Guild. It's really great! Every month there is a meeting with a featured artist doing a demo. It's incredibly inspiring! I'm also starting to enter shows and enter the Fine Art world starting with my pet portraits. I plan to get more illustrative as I go when it comes to the shows. But it is that time of year so there will be updates!

It's the Holiday Season...

Hey everyone! Hope you all had and are continuing to have a wonderful holiday season! I had a great time with my family, boyfriend and of course my dogs! Holiday pet portraits had officially come to a close but now with the near year approaching, I'm open and looking forward to doing much more! I'd like to experiment with some more illustrative portraiture for these guys! Also I'm hoping to get another book out this year so we'll see what 2013 brings!

Me & my dog Dillan on Christmas day!

Working in the studio for a holiday portrait.

Say hello to Scooter!

"Your dog is aliiiive!"

I've always been a big Tim Burton fan and I have been waiting to see his new "Frankenweenie" for awhile! When I saw it, I honestly felt unlike anything I've ever felt before. The inspiration flowing through me was almost unbearable! I had to get to work right away! This is my version of the late, beloved Sparky. Combine my pet portraiture and spooky illustration :)

If you haven't seen the film, get in the Halloween spirit and check it out! Very worthwhile!

PET EXPO 7

The 7th annual Pet Expo was a great experience! It was my first public event showcasing my love for pet portraiture. I had always been interested in replicating animals on paper since I was a little girl. My childhood dog, Shep, was my muse for years and years! So needless to say, I've had a lot of practice! Here are some shots from the Expo. I did some short sketches of pets that were there and offered prints & business cards. I think it was a pretty successful day! Busy and fun!

If interested in a commission for the holidays, I'm accepting them until the first week of December, just to make sure they all get out in time. To inquire about pricing, you can always contact me at briellejwilson@gmail.com!

Pet Expo is coming so soon!

September 29th is coming up so soon and I'm feeling more prepared for this than I ever did for any kind of art related show. On top of just getting my name out there as a professional Pet Portrait artist, I'm going to be doing some sketches of anyone's dog for $15 a piece with watercolor pencil & pen. I've been practicing with all different breeds and been having a lot of fun!

Click on the Pet Expo link on the right side of my blog to get the details! If you're in the Burlington County area in NJ this coming Saturday, and you love your pet, it'll be well worth checking out!

Post Kippy

The signing was fun and definitely a good experience. I finally got to meet the REAL Kippy! And I was not disappointed :)

Author Robert Lunsk, Kippy herself, and I.
Me & Kippy!

So until the next adventure of Kippy takes off, I'm continuing my love for doggies & kitties with my pet portraits...getting as ready as I can for the Pet Expo at the end of the month. Getting my canine on!

Hope to see you there!

I stumbled across my old oil paints..

I decided to help my brother decorate his new house with an original Blue Moon canvas. I haven't painted a thing in oil since college. It actually felt good to dive back in. This was a quickie that I completed in one day.

Here's the progress.

Summer Art Exhibition

So I actually entered an art show, something I don't seem to do enough of. Since I primarily want to get into pet portraiture and animal-oriented children's books, I decided to do a nice outdoor portrait of my rescued canine, Dillan. I called it, Pick-A-Dilly - just one of his many nicknames :)

Unfortunately, I don't have a nice scan of this piece so please excuse my phone-camera-quality. It's going to be for sale too -- no more being crazy attached to every piece of art that I do!

Wish me luck :)

Philadelphia Comic Con

Well, it's finally over - Philly's Wizard World 2012 Comic Con. I went nuts trying to get everything done in preparation for the show and I still couldn't do it all. I'm pretty relieved now but man, this past weekend was so much fun! Between meeting new people, selling prints, talking art with fellow artists, and hanging out with my favorite ones all weekend, it allowed me to get "re-inspired" if you will. Here's some pics from the Con.

My favorite artist comrades!
Above are some new pieces I did for fun for the Con. Very different, some in subject matter and some in medium, but I had lots of fun with this and may continue to experiment!

UPDATES!

Hello! I've been having a pretty exciting Memorial Day week, after my much needed relaxing/art-filled weekend. I've been getting my Fan stuff ready for print to bring to our table at Philadelphia's Wizard World convention this weekend. Artist Alley there is always fun! If you're going, please stop by the Rough Sketch table and say hi!

My weekend at the studio/boyfriend's house.

Also I received the honor to come to Carson Elementary School this morning as the featured guest speaker "wow" and talk with the kids about how art can be taken out of the classroom and into real life & career paths! I walked them through the steps I took bringing Kippy's story to life that I had just finished and it was a really good time. The little ones were so interested and enthusiastic. I even got a little too into telling the story by using voices and jumping around :) Sometimes my inner child gets the best of me!

Hope you're enjoying the summer weather and get your butt out to the Philly Convention Center this weekend! It's always a good time!
