Post Kippy

The signing was fun and definitely a good experience. I finally got to meet the REAL Kippy! And I was not disappointed :)

Me & Kippy!

So until the next adventure of Kippy takes off, I'm continuing my love for doggies & kitties with my pet portraits...getting as ready as I can for the Pet Expo at the end of the month. Getting my canine on!

Hope to see you there!

I stumbled across my old oil paints..

I decided to help my brother decorate his new house with an original Blue Moon canvas. I haven't painted a thing in oil since college. It actually felt good to dive back in. This was a quickie that I completed in one day.

Here's the progress.

Summer Art Exhibition

So I actually entered an art show, something I don't seem to do enough of. Since I primarily want to get into pet portraiture and animal-oriented children's books, I decided to do a nice outdoor portrait of my rescued canine, Dillan. I called it, Pick-A-Dilly - just one of his many nicknames :)

Unfortunately, I don't have a nice scan of this piece so please excuse my phone-camera-quality. It's going to be for sale too -- no more being crazy attached to every piece of art that I do!

Wish me luck :)

Philadelphia Comic Con

Well, it's finally over - Philly's Wizard World 2012 Comic Con. I went nuts trying to get everything done in preparation for the show and I still couldn't do it all. I'm pretty relieved now but man, this past weekend was so much fun! Between meeting new people, selling prints, talking art with fellow artists, and hanging out with my favorite ones all weekend, it allowed me to get "re-inspired" if you will. Here's some pics from the Con.

My favorite artist comrades!
Above are some new pieces I did for fun for the Con. Very different, some in subject matter and some in medium, but I had lots of fun with this and may continue to experiment!

UPDATES!

Hello! I've been having a pretty exciting Memorial Day week, after my much needed relaxing/art-filled weekend. I've been getting my Fan stuff ready for print to bring to our table at Philadelphia's Wizard World convention this weekend. Artist Alley there is always fun! If you're going, please stop by the Rough Sketch table and say hi!

My weekend at the studio/boyfriend's house.

Also I received the honor to come to Carson Elementary School this morning as the featured guest speaker "wow" and talk with the kids about how art can be taken out of the classroom and into real life & career paths! I walked them through the steps I took bringing Kippy's story to life that I had just finished and it was a really good time. The little ones were so interested and enthusiastic. I even got a little too into telling the story by using voices and jumping around :) Sometimes my inner child gets the best of me!

Hope you're enjoying the summer weather and get your butt out to the Philly Convention Center this weekend! It's always a good time!

Fan Art for Wizard World 2012

I've been having lots of fun doing something I haven't done since I was a teenager...FAN ART! I figured since the Comic Con in Philadelphia is coming up it would be the perfect excuse to do some fun artwork upon the completion of Kippy. Below are some suggestions I got via Facebook. Would love to do more.

Carnage is one of my FAVORITE anti-heroes of all time!
Maximum Carnage anyone?

Earth Worm Jim! He's such a groovy guy!
Remember him from Sega Genesis and the cartoon in the '90s?
Great suggestion!
