Christmas Pet Commissions

Hello all! Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with friends & fam! Thought I would post some pet pieces I have done that hopefully brightened up some's holidays :)

This is the finished product of the one in my prior post, and below is a picture taken of my latest after it was matted.

German Shepherds sure have been a common motif! They are beautiful dogs and I hope to soon have the pleasure of doing many more!

Dust Bunnies project

Thought I'd share some concept sketches for the dust bunny book I'm currently working on.

The above image is our promo piece, so the contrast was played with digitally before color. Below are some sketches for the actual story.

Enjoyyy :)

Collingswood Book Fair

The other weekend my good friends at Rough Sketch Studios & Bob from Stormwatch Comics had a table at the Collingswood book fair and it was a blast! Dexter's "A Cat Named Haiku" is out and is selling like crazy! On that note I'm excited to say that him and I are putting our heads together to come up with a new kid's book about dust bunnies. I'm completely honored to be asked to be a part of this team!

I'll do my best to keep ya updated on the adventures of the dust bunnies but regardless keep an eye out for this book in the spring!!

See ya soon! :)

Checkin' in...!

Wow! The summer had passed already and I'm not going back to school! I promise I did not fall off of the face of the earth, rather these past few months I had went through some tough adjustments. However I'm constantly having ideas brewing. I've been working on some odds and ends drawing just out of enjoyment before I soon kick things into gear! This is an old drawing that I decided to throw some skin tone on.
That'll probably be as far as that goes for recently I had the pleasure of attending the Baltimore Comic Con with my good friends at Rough Sketch Studios and I am just truly inspired!! The spirit and the passion felt in that place was phenomenal and I can't wait to get back on board with my kid's book dreams. I have big big plans for the upcoming year!
The Con was definitely the trip that I needed .. excited to get everything going! I'll be sure to keep ya posted on what I'm up to!

Until then!

Outta School!

While getting used to the hustle & bustle of "real" life, post-school that is, I'm trying to waste no time making something new and starting the journey to get exposure as a freelance artist. Good friends of mine at Rough Sketch studios offered a wonderful opportunity to contribute to Arcana's third "Art of Koni Waves" book expected to be available in a few weeks starting at the Philadelphia Wizard World! Here's my hero Koni, keep an eye out for the book coming soon! Hope to see you at Wizard World :)

Paint Paint Paint.

Thought I'd share what I've just been working on over the weekend! I'll have to get better with remembering to take pics between the underpainting and finished product. Better luck next time :)

BRIEyonce!

In the midst of all the craziness of the last working semester of college, I got an opportunity to do something fun! For one of my electives we have to do a self portrait as a celebrity. Beyonce is my girl so I decided to be a "single lady"! This is the progress so far. Excited!

Shoulda put a ring on it!

Senior Show & Rescue Pups!

Hello all! It has been a busy time and it's about to get a little crazier! Everything's going great with the children's book I am working on for my show and I actually feel like I'm making pretty good time.

I know I've been pretty ghostly about the whole thing but it's not to be mean, it's so it can be a great surprise down the line when I hopefully get it published! It's a story about the two dogs that my family and I adopted from a rescue who were abused and neglected by irresponsible breeders at an Amish barn. Yes, I said Amish! I want to make aware the reality of abuse that thousands of dogs undergo just to breed more puppies to be shipped to pet stores for profit.

Moral to my story? Don't shop, ADOPT! There are so many animals that are already in need of a home, let's take a step at a time to get to the root of the problem.

Since you've read my nice little rant, here's a teaser for my show coming in about a month! For information on coming to see Moore's Senior Show email me at briellejwilson@gmail.com.

Until next time ;)

Some Paintings

Hello all! I have been MIA from blogging for a few weeks for I have been incredibly busy working to make the upcoming Senior Show the best it can be! Things are going well.

Anyway, I had decided once I came into this school to minor in 2D Fine Arts. I wanted to be an oil painter/illustrator just like NC Wyeth. I was disappointed when it wasn't what I thought it would be. But I have stuck with it to earn that minor and this last semester I feel like I'm finally getting it for the first time. Although I've decided oils aren't for me when it comes to Illustration, Fine Arts painting classes are fun because they encourage experimentation and are relaxing. I think this aspect of art shouldn't be forgotten once someone becomes deeply embedded in Illustration.

Here are some examples of what I have been doing lately on the Fine Arts end.

Senior Year!

Quick update:

It is THAT time of year! The senior show at Moore College is officially about 3 months away! That means there is much to do in little time. I couldn't be more excited! While not giving away everything about my project, I will say that I'm working on a kid's book whose story is very special to me and I hope to pitch it to publishers within the year. More on that later!

This being said, I will most likely hold off on any commissions until May of this year, however keep checking back for I'm always up to something! Something cool to look forward to other than the release of the new Velvet Rope, is an upcoming children's book, A Cat Named Haiku, illustrated by a good friend of mine Dexter Weeks! It should be on the shelves of your local bookstore soon. Check out a teaser at Comixology.com.

Until next time! :)

Velvet Rope

I recently had the pleasure of having the opportunity to do a pinup for the upcoming Velvet Rope comic brought to you by good friends of mine at Rough Sketch Studios and Arcana Comics. If you like what you see, check out Rough Sketch's website under my links! The new book should be coming out shortly, I'll definately keep you posted on its release! In the meantime, here's a little teaser! I was so excited to get started on this pinup I cranked it out almost immediately. Again, this was recently as I discovered colored pencil on toned paper. Hope you like it as much as I liked making it!

Family Portraits

Finally got to upload some of my latest works! I think I might've found my niche with the color pencil on toned paper. This is definately a direction I'd like to go! Enjoy!
